The Deputy Minister of Lands and Country Planning, Madam Phyllis Kapu made her maiden visit to Kailahun since her appointment by President Julius Maada Bio.
Minister Kapu, an indigene of the eastern district, was welcomed by political party supporters, women traditional leaders, friends, families, religious leaders, youth groups and other locals in the district.
The Deputy Lands Minister expressed her elation over her visit while addressing scores of people at the infamous Kailahun Court Barry. She said she was happy “to be home” while issuing pieces of advice to the young population.
She admonished young people to deviate from all forms of violence, hate speech, drug abuse among other things. She stressed on the importance of having a vibrant youth population as she believed problems of Kailahun can better be understood and solved by her own sons and daughters and that can only be achieved if we’re conscious of ourselves and others.
She expressed her happiness in having such an opportunity to dialogue with brothers and sisters from her motherland. She assured the Kailahun people that most of their concerns have reached her desk and would be addressed accordingly.
