The deputy Mayor of the Freetown City Council, Kweku Lisk Esq has just arrival in Monrovia for Monrovia Day Celebrations a strategic forum to discuss urban governance, environmental sustainability development.

At the invitation of the Mayor of Monrovia, John-Charuk Siafa, Freetown’s Deputy Mayor, Kweku Lisk Esq., representing Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr OBE, has arrived in Liberia’s capital of the Monrovia Day celebration.

A key highlight of the event is the Monrovia Roundtable, a strategic forum to discuss urban governance, environmental sustainability, and community development, aimed at pushing actionable solutions to the city’s challenges.

Deputy Mayor Lisk, accompanied by FCC’s Chief Councilor Zainab Conteh, will participate in a panel discussion on Sustainable Communities, where he will share insights from Freetown’s experience emphasizing the critical role of community engagement in implementing the Transform Freetown-Transforming Lives Development Plan.

Monrovia Days is our annual community birthday party where all Monrovians gather together to celebrate talented youth and the Scholars and Champions from Monrovia.

Monrovia City Mayor John-Charuk Siafa emphasized the importance of civic participation in shaping of the city’s future.

“Monrovia Week is a time for us to reflect on our past and envision the city we want for the future. It takes all of us residents, businesses, and community leaders to create a vibrant, clean, and thriving Monrovia. Let’s come together to celebrate and take action to improve our beloved capital,” he said.

Monrovia Week will continue with a diverse lineup of activities, including the Monrovia Roundtable Discussion on February 13, 2025, on Good Governance, Environment, and Sustainable Communities.  The roundtable guest of honor and panelist is the Deputy Mayor of Freetown, Sierra Leone, Kweku Melvin Sheldon Lisk, ESQ, he stated.
