In a show of community solidarity, Deputy Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs, Buakai Bindi Hindowa, donated over 50 bags of rice and cash gifts of Le500 each to councilors from the Bo City and Bo District Councils on December 23, 2024.
The donation, part of a festive initiative, aimed to recognize and support the contributions of local leaders during the holiday season.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hindowa expressed gratitude to the councilors for their dedication to serving their communities and used the opportunity to declare his candidacy for Bo District Chairman under the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
“This donation is a reflection of my commitment to fostering unity and development within our district and the SLPP,” Hindowa stated.
The announcement was met with widespread support from local leaders, including Bo City Mayor Kobba Musa and Bo District Council Chairman Korseh Hindowa. Both praised the Deputy Minister for his gesture, emphasizing its significance in promoting collaboration and community development.
“This initiative exemplifies leadership and reinforces the bonds between us as we work toward the district’s growth,” Mayor Musa said.
Councilors expressed their appreciation for the donation, describing it as a timely gesture during the festive season. Many also voiced their support for Hindowa’s bid for the chairmanship, citing his track record of community service and leadership.
The event underscored Hindowa’s dual commitment to addressing immediate needs while positioning himself for greater responsibility within the district.
As Bo District faces ongoing challenges, initiatives like this signal the potential for progress through acts of goodwill and leadership.
