The Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development has on the 23rd February, 2024 witnessed the signing of a resolution between SLANGO and Local Councils which is aimed to harmonize NGO registration processes at the Bo City Council Hall.
The meeting, chaired by the Deputy Minister, aimed to enhance the understanding of NGO registration procedures and strategies among Local Councils while collectively addressing issues surrounding the harmonization of the registration process.
The event emphasized the commitment of both governmental and non-governmental entities to collaborate towards establishing a more efficient and transparent NGO registration framework. By bringing together these stakeholders, the Ministry sought to promote cooperation and understanding, ultimately facilitating smoother processes for NGOs seeking registration.
Discussions were centered on harmonization requirements for NGO registration, presentations on understanding the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and its requirements, and strategies to strengthen partnerships between NGOs and LCs.
They also reached at an agreement pertaining to the duration of NGO registration validity, registration processes, submission of annual work plans to councils, and involvement of NGOs in the District Development Plan preparation process.
The contract outlined specific resolutions aimed at enhancing collaboration and streamlining processes between SLANGO and Local Councils. These resolutions included provisions for the duration of registration validity, registration timelines, involvement of NGOs in council activities, communication protocols, and joint monitoring initiatives.
