Prof. Kelleh Gbawuru Mansaray, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) of Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone, recently shared his vision for the 2024/2025 academic year in an exclusive interview with Sieraloaded.

With a strong commitment to elevating the university’s academic and infrastructure standards, Prof. Mansaray expressed his determination to continue the strides made in recent years.

In his interview, Prof. Mansaray took a moment to congratulate the senior staff, lecturers, and administrators of FBC for their hard work in ensuring the successful completion of the 2023/2024 academic year’s examinations and timely grade submissions. He also confirmed that preparations are underway for the university’s graduation ceremony, which is scheduled to take place in December 2024.

As DVC, Prof. Mansaray emphasized that his primary focus is to restore Fourah Bay College to its former glory as the best university in Africa. Under his leadership, the university is actively renovating and constructing new structures on campus, thanks to the support of generous donors. He also highlighted the introduction of new undergraduate and postgraduate programs aimed at enhancing the academic standards of the institution. Notably, FBC has launched a new Master of Laws (LLM) program, which commenced in the 2024/2025 academic year.

In addition to academic growth, Prof. Mansaray stressed the importance of practical learning and innovation. The university now boasts an innovative Center that equips students with the necessary practical knowledge to compete internationally. Furthermore, several faculties have established international collaborations with lecturers and researchers from global institutions, providing FBC students with unique opportunities for cross cultural and academic exchange.

As the 2024/2025 academic year begins, Prof. Mansaray reaffirmed his commitment to improving both the academic and infrastructural standards at Fourah Bay College. With these ongoing efforts, he is confident that FBC will regain its position as a leading institution not only in Africa but also on the global stage.
