Speaking immediately after the release of the MCC scorecard on Sierra Leone for the Financial Year 2023, Chief Minister Jacob Jusu Saffa, in an exclusive interview with the Global Times in Bo City yesterday said, “No man born of a woman can stop the reelection of His Excellency President Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio in June 2023”.

The Chief Minister said that since 2018, President Bio’s government has consistently passed (with good or excellent) the MCC’s rating of Sierra Leone’s control or fight against corruption. He noted that, since 2008, the APC government consistently performed abysmally in the MCC scorecard in the control or fight against corruption:

“The MCC scorecard is the verdict on an Our administration…It shows that the US Government and by extension the West have confidence in the Bio Government… They have endorsed the efforts we are making to lay a solid foundation for the development of this country”, he said.

The Chief Minister observed that in the area of freedom of information, Sierra Leone, for the first time scored 98%, according to the latest MCC scorecard and 100% on primary Education expenditure.

The new scorecard recorded enviable gains in the Girls’ Primary Education Completion Rate indicator assessed by UNESCO. At over 99.5% in 2021, Sierra Leone has the highest rate of girls completing primary education than any other West African country for the period in review.

On Primary Education Expenditures, Sierra Leone increased spending from 3.61% to 4.3% as a percentage of GDP between 2020 and 2021- the highest increase over one year across all the countries in the lower income pool on the MCC scorecard. For the first time, Sierra Leone also passed the Land Rights and Access indicator.

In the category of ruling justly, Sierra Leone passed 5 out of the 6 indicators including the Control of Corruption.

The Chief Minister insisted that the Bio Government will continue to fund the implementation of the free quality education program as a key f component of the President’s human capital development.

The Chief Minister noted that, despite the difficulties created by fa the Russian/Ukraine war and the global financial crisis, there has been no shortage of essential commodities in the country.

“This shows that President Dr Julius h Maada Bio is a visionary leader…He has an optimistic vision for Sierra Leone”, JJ Saffa said.

The Chief Minister promised that the government will continue to ha support the ECSL to conduct free, pe fair and credible elections in 2023.

He noted that only President Bio and the SLPP will continue to th support people-centred programmes aimed at developing the human capital of the country.

The Chief Minister noted, “I work with 1 the President at State House…I know the efforts and sacrifices he is making day in and day out just to make Sierra Leoneans O happy…He loves his people…He is a people’s man”.

President Bio has been endorsed to contest as the Presidential candidate of the ruling SLPP in multi-tier elections 1 slated for 24th June 2023.
