The Director of Hospital and Ambulance Services at Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health, Mr. Ibrahim Foday-Musa, on Friday led a delegation to Lungi Government Hospital to assess service delivery and evaluate ongoing health sector reforms.

The visit, which included the Ministry’s Engineer, Mr. Alhajor Bah, and other staff from the Directorate of Hospital and Ambulance Services, focused on reviewing the hospital’s performance under the National Hospital Strategy and identifying key gaps affecting the delivery of quality healthcare.

Officials said the engagement also aimed to determine the level of support required from the Ministry’s leadership as plans advance for a comprehensive facelift of the facility. The proposed improvements are expected to enhance infrastructure, strengthen service delivery systems, and improve patient care.

Welcoming the delegation, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Alusine B. Yillah, expressed appreciation for the visit and introduced members of the management team.

He later conducted a guided tour of major hospital units, highlighting ongoing operations, priority needs, and areas requiring strategic intervention.

In his remarks, Mr. Foday-Musa underscored the Ministry’s strategic direction toward improving healthcare standards nationwide, noting that the visit reflects continued efforts to strengthen hospitals and support frontline health workers.

The assessment forms part of broader initiatives by the Ministry of Health aimed at reinforcing health systems, improving efficiency in service delivery, and ensuring the provision of safe and high-quality healthcare services across Sierra Leone.
