Sierra Leone will again  host the first batch of the Budapest- Bamako-Freetown Rally Finish Line 2024 event from 11th to 12thFebruary, 2024.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the event will mark the world’s largest amateur rally and will return to Sierra Leone twice in this year, 2024. The Tourism Ministry further reiterated that Sierra Leone will play host to the first batch of the Budapest-Bamako-Freetown Rally finish line 2024 event from the 11th to 12th February, 2024.

This is the world’s largest amateur vehicular rally and Africa’s biggest humanitarian event comprising 670 participants including two Sierra Leoneans with over 300 vehicles arriving through Kambia on the 11th February and head straight to Bai Bureh beach where a beach carnival will be organized.

Drizilik and Ibrahim Cole are the first Sierra Leoneans  to participate in the rally for Autism Awareness

The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Tunis and other stakeholders of the sector will welcome the participants at Bureh Beach.

Every two years, a new Budapest-Bamako Rally launches from organizer Andrew Szabo’s home city of Budapest, and the rally has grown by leaps and bounds since the inaugural event in 2005. The first stages of the 2024 Rally left Hungary’s capital on January 26, and theoretically, some percentage of the original 1,100 competitors will reach the finish line in Freetown, Sierra Leone, in West Africa by tomorrow February 12. The next Budapest-Bamako Rally is scheduled for 2026.
