The Directorate of Science, Technology, and Innovation (DSTI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), is set to bring High Speed Internet and Solar Energy to 403 schools across Sierra Leone.
The plan is to upgrade the country’s educational sector with Project Giga, under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio.
The project aims to promote a digital learning environment by providing free access to online resources for both students and teachers.
Project Giga is a project that addresses fundamental infrastructural difficulties in education by offering reliable internet connectivity and solar-powered energy systems, as well as providing chances for growth and development to communities.
The project is also part of an attempt to close the digital gap in Sierra Leone by providing a more fair and inclusive educational system for all. With these developments, the government hopes to improve academic quality, teaching techniques and prepare students for a technologically advanced future.
