The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has issued an urgent warning to the public regarding a sophisticated recruitment scam currently circulating on social media.
In a press statement released on February 26, 2026, the Commission officially distanced itself from a “Notice of Recruitment” dated February 25.
The fraudulent notice claimed that the ECSL was seeking to fill 266 vacant positions and directed hopeful applicants to a suspicious third-party portal (a tinyurl link).
“Fake, Fabricated, and Fraudulent”
The Commission was blunt in its assessment, labeling the viral post as “FAKE, FABRICATED and FRAUDULENT.” Officials confirmed that no such recruitment drive is underway and that the portal mentioned in the post was never created or authorized by the Commission.
The ECSL expressed concern that “motivated citizens” were being targeted by scammers looking to exploit job seekers. The public is strongly advised to disregard the notice and remain vigilant against potential phishing attempts or requests for personal information.
The Commission reiterated its standard communication protocols: All genuine job openings and electoral updates are posted on the official ECSL website.
The Commission concluded its statement by reaffirming its commitment to the integrity of Sierra Leone’s electoral processes, ensuring that transparency remains a priority.
