The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) issued an urgent disclaimer on Tuesday, February 3rd, warning the public against a fraudulent recruitment scheme circulating on social media.

The scam involves a fake application portal claiming to recruit staff for a purported 2025/2026 Voter Registration Exercise. The Commission explicitly labeled the information as “false and fabricated,” clarifying that no such recruitment is currently taking place.

In a press statement released from its Tower Hill headquarters, the ECSL confirmed that it has not yet published a timeline for the upcoming electoral process. Officials urged citizens to disregard any unofficial announcements, categorizing them as scams designed to mislead the public.

“The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone is committed to ensuring the integrity of our electoral process,” the statement read.

Authorities have advised the public to report any suspicious recruitment activities or fraudulent links to the ECSL National Headquarters in Freetown or any of its district offices.
