In a recent press release, the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) vehemently denied allegations published by the Night Watch Press, a local tabloid.

The ECSL clarified that it has not received any invitation to attend meetings with the Election Investigation Committee (EIC) and is unaware of any discussions or outcomes related to such gatherings.

The contentious article, published in the January 25th, 2024 edition, suggested that the ECSL had expressed readiness to cooperate with election investigators while simultaneously claiming non-cooperation.

ECSL stated that the conflicting information is misleading and unprofessional, emphasizing that the institution’s image should not be discredited based on inaccurate reporting

The commission emphasized that such inaccuracies could potentially harm the institution’s reputation and urged the tabloid to retract the article promptly.
