Popular Right Activist, Edmond Abu, has criticized SLRSA following the recent price Increment of driver’s license after the resignation of the erstwhile speaker of Parliament.
He further emphasized that Dr. Abass Bundu once called for a review of the Auto Specs agreement adding that it must be taken back to parliament for a review because it is too expensive and a burden on the transport sector.
“SLRSA is taking advantage over the resignation to further increase the racketeering license fees for all categories effective today. Mr Transport Minister and Parliamentary Committee on Transport your silence speak volume. I have been informed that the CRSG Tollgate choirs are also bracing-up to come back,” Abu stated.
Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) recently announced an increment in the Five Years driver’s license tariffs, effective Monday, 22 April 2024. According SLRSA this decision follows careful consideration of current economic conditions, inflation rates, and the need to maintain high standards in road transport services.
SLRSA Justifies that Operational expenses have significantly increased due to global inflation and the adjustment in license tariffs is necessary to cover these rising costs and ensure the sustainability of SLRSA operations. The further maintain that quality services, including road maintenance and safety measures, require adequate funding.
Believe ooh. Even though the masses are suffering from economic burden, and still government is allowing cost or prices increment on driving licence. I sees there are no other way to generating income from other sources, but to squeeze the poor masses to produce oil (money) for them to get Salaries or money in their pockets.
