The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) wishes to inform the general public that it will shut down the 161KV Transmission Line (TL) that transports power from the Bumbuna Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP) to Freetown 161 KV Substation at Kingtom in readiness to commence site acceptance test and pre- commissioning for the connection of the 10MW Makoth Solar Power Plant commencing on Wednesday, 1″ November, 2023 starting from 8:00am to 2:00pm for a period of six hours(6).
It is important to note that with the implementation of the interconnection of Makoth Solar Farm to the 161 KV Transmission Line, 10MW out of 25MW will be made available from the Makoth Solar Power Plant Project. This will further increase the available generation capacity by 10MW which will improve power supply to the Western Area, enhance the country’s’ energy mix and reduce CO2 emissions in electricity production.
In that regard, the Authority would want customers to note that during this activity, residents in Freetown, Makeni and Magburaka will experience power outages for a period of 6hrs starting from 8:00am to 2:00pm on Wednesday, 1st November, 2023. Moreover, the Authority is sorry for any inconveniences this situation may cause while assuring customers of a reliable and sustainable electricity supply upon completion of the said activity.
