The Electricity Distribution Supply Authority (EDSA) has issued a press release calling on Electricity Debtors to immediately made payment for their debts.
The press release stated that it’s the institution continued effort to increase revenue collection and improve operational efficiencies, as debtors should immediately make payment after receiving their bills to avoid disconnection and disruption of their services.
It was also stated that EDSA is actively investigating and analyzing its prepaid customers database to identify customers that may not have purchased electricity token for a period of at least three months or are purchasing electricity tokens in amounts that are not aligned with what is expected based on their installed electrical connection.
The authority called on customers to report all anomalies to EDSA for investigation and rectification of their electrical installation and/or connections. Failure to report any anomaly that results in customers receiving electricity without paying for it will be interpreted as a deliberate attempt to defraud EDSA.
It was disclosed that anyone caught and proven to be defrauding or has defrauded EDSA will be treated according to full extent of the law as described in the 2011 Electricity Act.
