The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has announced planned and unplanned power outages affecting multiple locations across Sierra Leone. The disruptions result from various faults and ongoing rehabilitation projects, with efforts underway to restore normal service promptly.

In Freetown, areas such as Falcon Bridge, Kissy Village, Looking Town, Aberdeen, Brookfields, and George Brook are experiencing outages due to issues including faulty underground medium-voltage (MV) cables, fallen poles, earth faults, and a broken MV jumper. EDSA has assured residents that these issues will be resolved no later than 29th November 2024.

In Bo, power will be interrupted from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM today, 25th November 2024, to allow isolation work on the 33kv line as part of the ongoing Bo/Kenema Rehabilitation and Expansion Project.

In Kenema, power supply remains stable with no major faults reported.

In Makeni, a fault on the Makama MV feeder is affecting seven secondary substations. EDSA is working to address the issue and expects resolution by the close of business today, 25th November 2024. Additionally, a faulty 1.6 Mega Volt Ampere power transformer in the area has necessitated a local load-shedding program. This program will continue for one month while repairs are completed.

EDSA has encouraged customers to report any power outages within their communities by calling 672 or visiting the nearest EDSA Primary Substation or Main Office to lodge complaints.

The Authority has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing these disruptions promptly and ensuring reliable electricity supply to its valued customers. Further updates will be provided as progress is made.
