The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has announced a power outage affecting several communities in Freetown due to a technical issue on a key 33kV power line.
In a public notice issued on Friday, May 2, 2025, EDSA management stated that a “technical glitch” on the 33kV line running from the Freetown 161 substation to the Blackhall Road Primary Substation is the cause of the disruption.
The areas currently experiencing the power outage include Wilberforce, Regent, Lumley, Juba, Juba Hill, Goderich, Mile 13, Sussex, and Spur Road. These areas are directly supplied by the affected 33kV line.
EDSA reported that inspections have been carried out, and the fault has been identified. Repair and maintenance work on the identified section of the line commenced on Friday, with the expectation that the issues will be resolved by Saturday, May 3, 2025.
The electricity authority issued an apology to customers in the affected communities for the inconvenience caused by the power outage. They assured the public that they are working diligently to complete the necessary repairs as quickly as possible.
EDSA also thanked its customers for their patience and understanding as they work to improve their services.
