The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority has announced plans for a significant upgrade to its power infrastructure, aimed at enhancing services in Eastern and Western Areas of Freetown.

Under the ESURP Additional Financing through the World Bank, the Authority’s EPC Contractor, KESEC, has successfully completed the procurement of 33kV Conductors. These conductors will replace existing ones along the route from Kingtom 161 to Wellington and Blackhall Road.

Scheduled to commence on Saturday, March 23rd, and concluding on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024, the replacement works will be carried out daily for eight hours, from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, spanning a duration of one month.

The primary objective of this upgrade is to address current capacity constraints within the power lines and bolster the 33kV distribution line capacity. By doing so, EDSA aims to significantly enhance its ability to deliver power to customers, particularly those in the EAST and FAR WEST regions.

During the implementation phase, EDSA says customers connected to the 33kV distribution line should anticipate intermittent power outages. Affected areas include Spur Road, Wilberforce, Imatt, Regent, Bathurst, Lumley, Atlantic Beach, Regent Road, Sheriff Drive, Malama, Pentagon, Juba, Goderich, Adonkia, Mambo, Sussex, Ropotee, Wellington, Jui, Grafton, Hastings, Rokel, and Waterloo.

EDSA further assureedthe public that upon the completion of this project, there will be a improvement in power outages experienced on the 33kV lines.

While apologizing for any inconvenience caused, the Authority seeks the cooperation and understanding of its valued customers as it endeavors to enhance network efficiency.
