On the 9th of April, 2024, the management of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) released a public notice addressing the technical difficulties encountered at the Freetown 161 Power Station located at Kingtom. This station, managed by the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC), serves as a crucial hub for power generation and distribution in the region.
According to the notice, the power generating entities including EGTC, Karpower, and Bumbuna are actively collaborating to rectify the issue and restore seamless electricity supply to the residents of Freetown. The collective efforts are focused on synchronizing all power sources to ensure equitable distribution through the distribution transformer network.
The technical glitch at the Freetown 161 Power Station has resulted in an interruption in the normal supply of electricity to the city, causing inconvenience to the residents. In light of this, EDSA extends its sincere apologies to the general public for the inconvenience caused by the unexpected outage.
However, EDSA reassures its valued customers that once the fault is successfully addressed by the generating entities—EGTC, Karpower, and Bumbuna—normal power supply will be promptly restored to Freetown. The commitment to resolving the issue swiftly reflects the dedication of these entities to ensuring reliable electricity services for the community.
Despite the challenges posed by the technical difficulties, EDSA expresses gratitude to its customers for their continued patience and understanding during this period of inconvenience. The support and cooperation of the community are invaluable as efforts are underway to resolve the issue and restore normalcy to the power supply in Freetown.
The public notice serves as a transparent communication from EDSA, providing insight into the ongoing efforts to address the power outage and alleviate its impact on the residents. By acknowledging the issue and outlining the steps being taken to resolve it, EDSA demonstrates accountability and commitment to maintaining the quality and reliability of electricity services.
EDSA urges residents to remain patient and cooperative as the necessary measures are implemented to rectify the technical difficulties at the Freetown 161 Power Station. The collaboration between the power generating entities underscores a collective commitment to ensuring the uninterrupted supply of electricity to Freetown. As the situation progresses, EDSA pledges to keep the public informed and appreciates the continued support and understanding of its valued customers.

It’s a shame that our government appears to be indifferent towards the plight of the people of Sierra Leone. We are tired of the constant suffering that seems to have engulfed our country. This is the worst situation I have ever witnessed in my lifetime here. I hope that God intervenes and relieves us from the hands of those who are causing this misery.
Lae den lef for lie nor! Just a few days ago, Director General of EDSA broke down and admitted “we cannot provide what we don’t have”, then today, this nonsense? If the problem is at Kingtom (which it is not?) what does Bumbuna and Karpower have to do with that? You can’t afford Karpower, so there is no light. Simple. Rains will start soon, Bunbuna will kick in and you can lie then that problem is fixed, but this is failure on the part of the Bio illegitimate government, that’s all. We do not have the means to provide the basics. We are a failed nation. Our government is a failure.
What about the provinces like Makeni?
Lie lie they have fail us nonsense
Lie lie they have fail us
Big big problem buzins na salone
The problems of electricity distribution is perennial. The past Ernest Bia Koroma government didn’t solve amidst all efforts to solve, now the same problem had been transferred to what we are experiencing today.
By and large, the Ernest government would have put an end to this electricity distribution problem because it was a flagship program of Ernest Bia Koroma in his manifestos in 2007 when he took power from Late pa kabbah.
In all let us pray for the invention of God almighty to solve the problem for us in Jesus mighty name. Somebody say Amen!!!
All thing lef to wuna, na wuna get the juice
