The Management of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has updated the public on the attack on its 161 Substation in Kingtom, Freetown.

The network infrastructure of EDSA at 161 Station was recently attacked by unknown prople leading to the destruction of some accessories attached to its transformer two which resulted to a reduced supply capacity.

The Authority has informed through a release that the maintenance and repair works of the damages have been completed.

The Authority said in order to ensure the smooth and stable operation of the affected transformer, it is technically essential for them to ensure that the repaired transformer is filled with 15,000 liters of purified oil and is allowed to go through the purification process in order to drive efficiency in operation and to avoid breakdowns.

The Authority therefore informed that purification process has commenced, and it is estimated that the process will be completed within a day or two.

The Authority concluded by pleading with customers to show patience and understanding during this challenging moment while it promises to restore normal supply with additional 27 Megawatts upon completion of the purification process.
