The Deputy Director of Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL), Raymond George, has said that the commission is so far satisfied with the outcome of the first and second phase of the registration process that was concluded recently across the country.

He made this statement when addressing the weekly Ministry of Information and Communications Press Briefing on Thursday 6th September 2022.

Raymond George also stated that all concerns raised by citizens regarding the delay and other challenges during the first two days of the voter registration process were rectified within the first phase of the process and revealed that after the conclusion of the entire process, a delegation from ECSL visited all the 1,815 registration centers across the country to assess the challenges and address recommendations from the public.

According to Mr. George, it was after this exercise that the Commission decided to the extension of the voter registration process for an additional two days to cover the challenging two days during the first phase of the registration.

In conclusion, Mr. George called on members of the press not to be too hasty to jump to conclusion on the issues of the amount to be paid by candidates vying for various positions in the 2023 general elections and appealed to all Sierra Leoneans to read the Public Elections Act of 2023, which is presently available at the Government bookshop to know the calculations for candidates vying for various positions in the 2023 general elections.
