Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister and Chief Innovation Officer, Dr Moinina David Sengeh, has met with Sanda Ojiambo, CEO and Executive Director of the United Nations Global Compact, to discuss Africa’s innovation agenda ahead of the Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI) 2026.

The meeting took place in Cairo following the United Nations High-Level Convening on Artificial Intelligence and Human Development. Officials described the engagement as a strategic discussion aimed at strengthening collaboration in the lead-up to GABI 2026.

Dr Sengeh and Ms Ojiambo reportedly began outlining proposals for two high-level GABI sessions focused on Africa’s innovation potential, sustainable development priorities, and investment opportunities. The planned discussions will address inclusive economic growth, responsible artificial intelligence and technology, and the role of public-private partnerships in driving long-term transformation across the continent.

The engagement underscores Sierra Leone’s growing participation in global conversations on artificial intelligence, innovation, and inclusive development. Government officials said the partnership also reflects the country’s commitment to advancing its “Big Five Game Changers” and aligning national priorities with broader African sustainable development goals.

The Global Africa Business Initiative, convened annually alongside the United Nations General Assembly, brings together African heads of state, private sector leaders, and development partners to mobilise investment and scale solutions across the continent.

The latest collaboration positions Sierra Leone to showcase its innovation policy direction and homegrown development models at GABI 2026.
