Esther Turay, the wife of prominent Sierra Leonean Hip-Hop artist Kao Denero, has publicly warned fellow artiste, Boss LA, that she will pursue legal action if he continues to make what she describes as defamatory statements against her character.
The warning was issued in a video that has rapidly circulated online.
In the video, Turay acknowledged that her decision to address the matter publicly might be met with disapproval by some. However, she emphasized that this would be her final warning to Boss LA. She expressed her frustration over his repeated use of her name in his videos and public appearances, despite her assertion that she has no personal acquaintance with him.
Turay recounted an alleged encounter with Boss LA at the Swiss Hotel when she was 12 years old and was simply picking up lunch from her mother. She clarified that she had never interacted with Boss LA and was surprised by his claims of a relationship between them.
Issuing a stern warning, Turay demanded that Boss LA cease defaming her name, stating that she would take legal action if the behavior persisted. She also voiced criticism towards women’s institutions in Sierra Leone for their apparent silence on the issue, questioning if her association with Kao Denero had influenced their lack of intervention.
Furthermore, Turay drew a comparison between her husband and the notorious former rebel leader Foday Sankoh, questioning Boss LA’s motives for allegedly spreading false information about her. She stressed that she was a child during the time Boss LA claimed they had a relationship, highlighting the implausibility of his assertions.
Addressing the ongoing feud between Boss LA and her husband, Turay stated, “I feel compelled to caution you. I have no desire to involve myself in your Hip-Hop dispute with my spouse. My family and I are taking a firm stance, and I am delivering this final warning, LAJ.”
She also expressed her disapproval of government officials and individuals who appointed Boss LA as an Entertainment Ambassador, suggesting they were overlooking his “immaturity.” “I am now speaking out on behalf of myself and my family, separate from my husband, as I am aware of the conflict between you two… I am issuing this final warning to you, LAJ, to refrain from tarnishing my reputation,” she declared.
Turay explicitly denied any prior acquaintance with Boss LA and refuted his claims of having met her while she worked at the Swiss Hotel. “We have never crossed paths, and I have never been employed at the Swiss Hotel. My visits were solely to pick up lunch for school before returning home. Our paths have never crossed, and I am here solely to caution you that my family and I will take necessary action. That is all. Goodbye,” she concluded.
