The European Union, in partnership with GIZ, recently conducted a monitoring visit to the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) project in Kailahun and Matru, Sierra Leone.
This initiative, jointly funded by the German Embassy in Freetown, represents a significant investment of 13 million euros aimed at empowering the youth of Sierra Leone.
The primary goal of the TVET project is to equip young Sierra Leoneans with the skills necessary to meet the demands of the private sector, thereby enhancing their employability and fostering self-employment opportunities.
With a target to reach 250 young individuals upon completion, the project is designed to provide practical training and resources tailored to local market needs.
During the monitoring visit, representatives from the EU and GIZ engaged with project stakeholders and beneficiaries, assessing the progress and impact of the training programs.
The project’s success is critical not only for individual participants but also for the broader economic development of the region, as it aims to bridge the skills gap in the local workforce.
As the project continues, it holds the promise of transforming the lives of many young people in Sierra Leone, paving the way for a more skilled and self-reliant generation.
