A concerned parent has raised serious allegations of corruption at the Prince of Wales (P.O.W) School in Freetown, claiming that the names of students who attended the institution from Junior Secondary School (JSS1) to Senior Secondary School (SSS3 have been replaced by those of students from other schools due to bribery.

The parent, whose child is reportedly among those affected, alleges that some school officials have been complicit in tampering with student records, resulting in several long-term students being deprived of their rightful places on critical exam rosters.

“This is a grave injustice. Our children, who have worked hard and remained at this school for years, have been cheated out of their opportunities because of bribery,” the parent said, speaking with visible frustration. “We have evidence, and this is not just affecting my son. Over 50 students have been impacted, and we plan to take action.”

The allegations have sparked outrage among students and parents alike. According to sources, more than 50 affected students are planning to take their grievances to the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) to voice their concerns publicly.

“This is not just about my child. It’s about the integrity of the education system. If we allow this corruption to continue, how we can expect our children to have a fair chance at success?” another parent lamented.

The aggrieved families are calling on the Ministry of Education and relevant authorities to intervene immediately and conduct an independent investigation into the allegations. They demand that any officials found guilty of misconduct be held accountable, and that affected students have their rightful places restored.

The alleged swapping of student names raises serious questions about the transparency and integrity of the examination and record-keeping processes at P.O.W. School. The parents are urging authorities to act swiftly to uncover the truth and ensure justice for the affected students.

“This is not just an issue of bribery. It’s about the future of our children,” the parent added. “We need the government to step in, investigate, and make things right.”

The Ministry of Education has not yet commented on the allegations, but concerned families and community members are demanding immediate action to address the growing crisis.
