Two Senior Directors at the Sierra Leone Safety Authority (SLRSA), Assanatu J. Mansaray, Director of License and Arthur Brima, Director of Transport, have been suspended following their alleged involvement in a fake license scam, which the Criminal Investigations Department and the Anti-Corruption Commission are currently and jointly investigating.
Madam Mansaray is alleged to have a hand in the fake License saga, whilst Arthur Brima is also alleged to have conducted fraudulent Auction process and payment made into his private bank account instead of the Authority’s account.
Arthur Brima is being replaced by Daniel Kaitibie who is the Transport Manager and Assanatu J. Mansaray replaced by Francis Bahun, Internal Audit Manager. Whether these two Directors will be arrested and placed behind bars like the others is a matter of wait and see.
The issues are coming at a time when President Bio is celebrating his four years in office. Although he had promised to fight corruption at all levels but seems as if they are all words of fantasy.
“Corruption within the Bio Government is high. The Anti-Corruption Commission and the Police are not helping the President achieve its goal,” a source remarked. And added that corruption is at its peak at the SLRSA and as recent as few weeks ago the Authority was engulfed with corruption in the License Department whose Director, Assanatu Judith Mansaray (Sannoh) and others.
It is revealed that the License Department has been on a printing spree of fake Driver’s License and billions of Leones which should have been in the coffers of the government have been steadily diverted to their pockets and the two suspended Directors happened to be the kingpins. It is further disclosed that the Police Inspector General Dr. Ambrose Sovula’s son Joseph sovula is allegedly on the run.
“The IG took his son out of detention only for him to escape from the law,” Police sources alleged.
It is further added that while President Bio continues to make wrong choices that is affecting the performance of work in most Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the appointment of Reverend Smart Senesie at SLRSA is nothing to write home about as inside sources disclosed that he comes to work three times a week and even with that nothing absolutely is going on since the former Executive Director was sacked.
“The Reverend whose focus is to become the UMC Bishop us very busy with church politics that has prevented him from bringing any reform to an already collapsed institution,” a source said and went on to state that SLRSA members of Staff are of the opinion that if it continues this way the whole institution will be crumbled.
Standard Times Newspaper reports that, when contacted for clarification, Assanatu Judith Mansaray responded by saying “Check with the ACC as they are investigating the matter and MIS is not my department.”
