The Principal Magistrate of Freetown Magistrate Court No.1, Sahr Kekura, has remanded three individuals in custody for allegedly stealing $7,000 from the residence of renowned Sierra Leonean footballer, Kai Kamara.
The accused, identified as Abubakarr Turay, his wife Fatmata Bangura, and their daughter Kadiatu Turay, were arraigned on two counts of conspiracy to commit larceny and larceny contrary to the Larceny Act of 1916.
The prosecution alleges that on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Fadika Drive, Hill Station, Freetown, the accused conspired together to commit larceny. Further, they are accused of stealing the sum of $7,000 (equivalent to 170,000 Leones) from Kai Kamara on the same date.
When the charges were read, the first accused, Abubakarr Turay, denied the allegations, while his wife, Fatmata Bangura, and daughter, Kadiatu Turay, pleaded guilty to the offence.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Aminatu Daboh, the prosecutor in the case, requested an adjournment and assured the court that her witness would be available for the next hearing.
The accused were unrepresented in court, and no bail application was made on their behalf. As a result, Magistrate Sahr Kekura ordered their remand in custody. The matter has been adjourned to Wednesday, January 29, 2025, for further proceedings.
