Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Dr. Fatima Bio, has fulfilled her pledge to the Tuba community, donating 200 million leones towards the construction of a vocational skills training center. This significant contribution marks a major step forward in supporting the community’s youth and fostering economic development.

The donation aligns with Dr. Bio’s commitment to empowering young people. During her visit to Tuba on January 25th, she pledged her financial support for the center, recognizing its potential to serve as a crucial hub for skills development and economic opportunity.

On February 7th, representatives from the Tuba community, including Hon. Madam Beatrice Kangbai, Member of Parliament for Tuba, received the cheque at the First Lady’s office in Freetown. Dr. Bio emphasized the importance of investing in youth and highlighted the center’s potential to benefit not only the immediate community but also the nation as a whole.

The 200 million leones donation has been divided equally, with 100 million allocated to support the center’s instructors and staff and the remaining 100 million dedicated to procuring essential equipment, learning materials, and training facilities. This comprehensive approach ensures both the human resource element and the physical infrastructure are addressed effectively.
