The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio, has been honoured with a prestigious award at the Women’s Forum Sierra Leone Annual National Awards and Fundraising Dinner, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to women’s empowerment and the protection of the rights and dignity of women and girls across the country.
The high-profile event was held at the Freetown International Conference Centre, where the First Lady also delivered the keynote address, highlighting the importance of unity, compassion, and collective action in advancing the welfare of women and girls.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs. Bio described the celebration as a powerful testament to what can be achieved through shared commitment and collaboration. She emphasized that every award presented carries a deeper message to women everywhere-that they matter, their work matters, and their dreams matter.

She further called on women to leave the event more united and compassionate, urging them to support one another not only in moments of celebration but also through the challenges and struggles they face.
“When women work together, no road is too long, and no dream is too big,” the First Lady stated.
Mrs. Bio also extended her gratitude to Sallay Adams, whom she described as a distinguished woman of Sierra Leone, as well as to all participants and organizers, for making the event a resounding success.
The ceremony brought together influential women leaders, advocates, and stakeholders, reaffirming a shared national commitment to gender equality, empowerment, and the protection of women’s rights in Sierra Leone.
