Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Bio was on Saturday, October 21, 2023, honored with a leadership Award at Humanity Development Event held at the New Brookfields Hotel in Freetown.

It was recorded that she was recognized for her exceptional leadership and dedication towards the advancement of women and girls in the country.

The award event is organized annually and aimed at figuring out, acknowledging and celebrating individuals who have made significant contributions to the betterment of Sierra Leone and beyond. The theme for this year’s event is: “Building a Brighter Future,”

Matthew Dingie, the Financial Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, expressed his gratitude for the presence of the First Lady, emphasizing her role as a reflection of the esteemed President. He extended a heartfelt welcome to all attendees, particularly those visiting from the diaspora.

The First Lady expressed her appreciation for the Foundation’s commendable efforts and pledged her office’s full support to help achieve its objectives. She also urged all Sierra Leoneans to join forces and align themselves with the Government’s Priorities, particularly the Big Five Game Changer, championed by His Excellency, the President.

She spoke on the importance of self-sufficiency as a nation, stating that only by feeding and educating the masses can things work well, adding the significance of technology and infrastructure development in shaping the future of the country, and stating that without them, our progress would be compromised.

This event highlighted the extraordinary achievements of Sierra Leoneans and served as a testament to the collective commitment to building a brighter future for the nation.
