The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Madam Fatima Bio, on Tuesday officially unveiled the newly renovated Ward 9 at Connaught Hospital, a facility dedicated to female patients.
The refurbishment, led by the SLPP North America Women’s Council, aims to improve care and comfort for women receiving treatment.
Speaking at the ceremony, Madam Bio said, “Ward 9 had been in dire need of renovation, and I am pleased to see it transformed. Quality healthcare remains a top priority.”

She commended the SLPP North America Women’s Council, particularly Madam Lulu Agba, for their leadership in the project. The First Lady also highlighted her ongoing contributions to the health sector, including support for the 34 Military Hospital and the renovation of Connaught Hospital’s ICU.

Healthcare workers, party representatives, and community stakeholders attended the unveiling, praising the initiative as a timely intervention for women’s healthcare in Sierra Leone.
The renovation of Ward 9 underscores the role of women’s leadership and diaspora engagement in national development.
