Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Maada Bio, has issued a highly public and pointed message directed at the mistresses—colloquially referred to as “side chicks”—of the Old Bo Boys Association (OBBA) alumni ahead of their upcoming weekend gathering in the city of Bo.

In a social media statement posted on Monday, the First Lady drew a firm line between legal spouses and extramarital partners, declaring that only recognized wives will be permitted at the primary events and granted access to the main tables.

The First Lady, writing under the sign-off “Mrs Fatima Maada Bio 3919B,” took a sarcastic tone toward the extramarital partners. She mockingly acknowledged their roles as “service providers” acting on behalf of the wives, before outlining strict social boundaries for the weekend’s festivities.

The First Lady warned the women that they would find themselves “across the road, waving at properties” that rightfully belong to the wives of the OBBA alumni.

Bio explicitly stated that “only wives sit at the main table.” She advised attendees that they would need to come prepared with a “ring on the finger or marriage certificate in hand.”

She advised the mistresses to bring along their own dates or “side hens” to ensure everyone is “properly accounted for,” adding that they could stand proudly with them just as the wives will stand beside their husbands.

The Old Bo Boys Association (OBBA) is the prestigious alumni network of the Bo Government Secondary School, and their annual gatherings are major social, cultural, and political networking events in Sierra Leone. President Julius Maada Bio is a prominent alumnus of the institution.

First Lady Bio concluded her message by rallying her fellow spouses, asking, “OBBA wives are we together?”, signaling a unified front among the legally married partners ahead of the highly anticipated weekend celebrations in Bo.
