The administration of Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone, has reinforced a strict ban on all student club activities following a series of violent incidents that rocked the campus earlier this week.

In an official notice released on May 2, 2026, the College Administration expressed “grave concern” over clashes that occurred on April 30 and May 1. While the specific details of the violence were not disclosed, the administration has taken immediate steps to restore order and ensure student safety.

This ban covers all forms of club-related engagement, including gatherings, processions, chanting, and any organised group activities under the auspices of student clubs.

All students are required to comply strictly with this directive. Any violation will attract firm disciplinary action in accordance with the College’s rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, the Campus is now under the full security coverage of the Western Area Regional Command of the Sierra Leone Police, while swift investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetrators of these acts of violence to justice.

The FBC Administration is calling all students to cooperate with authorities and maintain peace and order within the campus and its community.

Violence on FBC Campus is not a new thing. Most times, it is ignited by rivalry between two of the largest fraternities in the college -White and Black. Members of these two groups normally fight on campus, especially over politics and general dominance. While casualties are very rare, there are instances in which such violences disrupt academic activities on campus and destruction of properties.
