The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has today finally released opposition politicians, Femi Claudius-Cole of Unity Party and Dr. Dennis Bright of the National Grand Coalition (NGC) after spending four nights in detention without charges.
SLP announced yesterday that they have agreed to release both politicians on conditions, but they were made to spend another 24 hours before they were finally released.
Both Coalition of Progressive Parties Members (CoPPP) have reportedly been released on bail conditions which required them to surrender their passports. Their two sureties also did same.
The Unity Party Leader and the NGC Leader and Chairman were arrested on Sunday evening by Sierra Leone Police on allegation of inciting people to demonstrate. Both denied any wrongdoing.
Femi Claudius-Cole was seen with Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyer shortly after her release and was reportedly in very high spirit.
