The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs has announced that Sierra Leone will be the official finish line destination for the 2026 edition of the Budapest Bamako Rally, the largest amateur rally in the world.

The Ministry also announces other major announcements from the organizers, which include the unveiling of a new name and logo, and the official confirmation that Sierra Leone will once again serve as the finish line destination for the 2026 edition of the rally-the largest amateur rally in the world.

Sierra Leone has previously hosted four successful editions of the rally, welcoming close to 2,500 international participants over the years.

According to the Ministry, the 2026 rally is expected to bring in the highest number of participants, adding that to date an estimated 1,500 adventurers from over 80 countries will conclude their journey on Sierra Leonean soil.

This milestone the ministry said does not only positions Sierra Leone prominently on the global tourism map but also aligns with the Ministry’s rebranding and image enhancement efforts. The anticipated influx of visitors is expected to generate significant social and economic benefits, including increased tourism revenue, global media attention, and stronger international partnerships.

It is further disclosed that, due to the country proven capacity and hospitality, it has been selected to host the rally’s finish line again in 2028 and 2030, which is solidifying its status as a premier destination for global adventure tourism.

In addition to the sporting and tourism dimensions of the rally, the event will further deepen its charitable contributions in Sierra Leone. Organizers have committed to supporting local organizations and implementing sustainability initiatives, such as tree-planting campaigns, to offset the carbon footprint of the rally.

In an exciting boost to Sierra Leone’s creative economy, the 2026 edition will also feature performances by one of Europe’s most celebrated rock bands, who will collaborate with local artists and cultural groups for electrifying shows at two of Sierra Leone’s most iconic beach location.
