The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, expressed joy to be present with leaders of the Christian Community as part of celebrations to honor this year’s festivities on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Presidential Lodge in Freetown.

She expressed gratitude to the Christian community for its significant assistance in achieving the presentation and passage of the UN resolution designating November 18 as a Day of Commemoration for Rape Victims.

She added that the Vatican’s Pope had invited her for a special visit and prayers and had given the resolution his full support.

The First Lady emphasized that the unselfish support she received as a Muslim woman from the Christian Community was one of the most rewarding aspects of the UN Resolution process.

According to her, among other things, November 18 of every year will now be utilized to offer Muslim and Christian prayers for rape victims all across the world.

Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, made light of the fact that people occasionally mistake him for a Muslim during his speech because of his willingness to utilize Islamic greetings.

He did, however, make it clear that he is a devout Catholic believer who nearly became a bishop before God changed his course.

He cited God’s grace as the reason for his ascent to the president.

He warned against the error of people disrespecting and abusing their leaders since it is more likely that the people will suffer as a result of what happens to the leaders. He also said that God gives leadership.

He took use of the forum to exhort the population to pray for the success of their leaders and for the well-being of the country.

He expressed gratitude to the Christian leadership for their unending prayers for the nation and his administration.
