The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, on Monday formally introduced the newly elected executives of the Bike Riders Union to President Dr. Julius Maada Bio at the State House.

The meeting highlighted the union’s pivotal role in promoting governance, peace, and security across the nation.

Dr. Fatima Maada Bio underscored the transformation of the union’s image, particularly following the launch of the Hands Off Our Girls campaign. Previously associated with crime, including incidents of rape, teenage pregnancies, and gender-based violence, bike riders have become key advocates for change through ongoing dialogue and collaboration with the government.

In a symbolic gesture recognizing her commitment to the union and national development, the First Lady was crowned as “Queen Rider.” This honor reflects her efforts to foster partnerships aimed at addressing societal issues and advancing progress in Sierra Leone.

President Bio commended the union for their strides in reshaping public perception and their dedication to community development. He emphasized the importance of their continued involvement in fostering a peaceful and secure society.
