The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, presented recognition awards to the newly elected National and Regional Officers of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) during the party’s inaugural dinner and victory dance on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Freetown International Conference Center.

Accompanying her husband, President and SLPP leader Dr. Julius Maada Bio, the First Lady attended the event, which celebrated the party’s newly elected officers.

The occasion marked a significant moment for the party, with Dr. Fatima Bio emphasizing the importance of unity and collective effort in the lead-up to the 2028 elections.

During her speech, she expressed the party’s commitment to moving forward together. “Despite our differences, we remain committed to our mantra: ‘One people, one country,’” she said, urging members to work as a unified force in the years ahead.

She also called on all party members to support the newly appointed executives to ensure a strong and united front.

The First Lady recognized the dedication and hard work of the new officers. “I am honored to present these awards of recognition to our newly elected officers,” she stated, affirming the role these leaders will play in shaping the party’s future.

Dr. Fatima Bio also made an appeal for the SLPP to focus on defeating the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party in the 2028 elections. “As a party, I urge everyone to rally together and build a strong, united front to ensure our triumph over the APC party in 2028,” she added.

While celebratory, the event also served as a platform to reinforce the party’s goals and strategies for the upcoming electoral cycle. Supporters gathered in Freetown to celebrate the new leadership and renew their commitment to the party’s mission.

The recognition awards and calls for unity come at a crucial time as the SLPP prepares for what is expected to be a highly competitive race in the 2028 general elections.
