The First Lady of Türkiye Emine Erdogan has on the 16th May 2024 met with Sierra Leone’s first lady, Fatima bio on the margins of the summit organised by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Abuja, Nigeria.

It was revealed that the meeting was part of a high-level regional seminar on Promoting Cancer Awareness and Advocacy Programs in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) African member states and their meeting form part of building a greater bilateral relations.

Bion said they had established a hospital in Nigeria inspired by Emine Erdogan and had named the gynaecology department of the hospital after her, according to sources close to the meeting.

In a post on X, Emine Erdogan described their meeting as fruitful maintaining that the had an exchange views on their common goals and efforts in this regard and that they are on the same page regarding the critical importance of collaboration in the fight against cancer, adding that, they agreed to walk together for healthier and more resilient societies.

The first lady expressed great concern and commitment over the plans and engagement.
