Sierra Leone’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Alhaji Timothy Kabba, has arrived in Guinea to engage in high-level diplomatic discussions concerning recent tensions along the Falaba and Yenga border areas.

The diplomatic mission signals Sierra Leone’s commitment to resolving the situation through dialogue and peaceful negotiation.

Defence Spokesman Hassan Sei Coomber, speaking to Truth Media earlier today, confirmed that Minister Kabba is leading a delegation to meet with his Guinean counterpart to address the matter.

The talks follow reports from Kaliyere Village in Falaba District alleging that Guinean soldiers crossed into Sierra Leonean territory, detaining several officers from the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) and the Operational Support Division (OSD) before withdrawing.

In response, Guinean authorities issued an official statement disputing these claims, asserting that Sierra Leonean personnel had entered Guinean territory without authorization. Reports indicate that 16 Sierra Leonean security personnel remain detained in Conakry as the diplomatic dialogue continues.

The ongoing engagement underscores the importance of maintaining peaceful bilateral relations and addressing border security concerns through diplomacy.
