In a shocking development, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, former Sports Minister and current Chairman of the National Sports Authority, has sparked widespread controversy following his inflammatory remarks against Madam Femi Claudius Cole, a former presidential candidate for the Unity Party.
In his X page, Nyelenkeh reportedly threatened Cole, stating that if “they” attempted “anything stupid,” they would be “burnt alive.”
He further described Cole using derogatory language, calling her an “idiot” and an “astray dog.” The remarks, perceived as both violent and demeaning, have ignited outrage across political and social circles.
Madam Cole, known for her leadership and outspoken nature, expressed deep distress over the comments, describing them as not only defamatory but also a grave threat to her personal safety.
“This is a new low in our politics,” she stated in a brief response, urging authorities to address the rising tide of political intolerance.
Human rights groups and political commentators have condemned Nyelenkeh’s remarks, calling for accountability and an urgent intervention to ensure the safety of political leaders and the maintenance of civil discourse.
“This kind of language has no place in a democracy. It sets a dangerous precedent,” said a representative from a leading civil rights organization.
As public uproar grows, many are calling for an investigation into the incident and demanding that Nyelenkeh publicly retract his statements. Despite the mounting backlash, Nyelenkeh has yet to issue a formal apology or clarification.

Disappointing and disgusting though!
Such disrespectful statement is not only a disrespect to the Madam Claudia, but a disrespect to all women in Sierra Leone , which is tantamount to GENDER VIOLENCE..
Was she planning to create unrest in S/Leone? Because to me the peace of this nation surpass everyone/everything. You to investigate Mr former minister maybe he has proofs to support his claim.
Just for attention or recognition
A man whom many see as role model using such words against a prominent figure in our society. It’s really a pity
Drunk with politics
You said such language is not allowed in a democracy and it is an insult to all women in Sierra Leone. You also added that the minister is a role model who should not be using such language.
Why do you keep quiet when Sylvia Blyden is insulting other people. Is she not living in a democracy? Is she not a role model particularly among the young people? Is she not a politician and above all is she not a woman?
People must abstain from such blatant display of stupidity and hypocrisy.
Sylvia blydn should also be cautioned , and that besides the statement of
She doesn’t command any respect, very shameful and disgraceful woman, that thinks she can make are last days beautiful in politics
Hmmm oo salone all party pikin get way for defend e party
Our stability is key. I am nor defending the minister but it’s necessary we do whatever it takes to make us prosper as a nation, even if it’s to cut ✂️ those who may want to block that in bits.
Our stability is key
Let’s understand this clearly, is SL a pseudo-democratic state, where democracy is administered in name only? Bcus, it appears that when freedom of speech, association & right to protests your grieviances are expressed, there & then the cloak of intolerance decorates you with the all too familiar cliche tagging you as, ‘ threatening the peace’. So the solution to people is: stay quiet, do not disagree with political issues, support all govt policies, etc etc. let all become zombies
