All People’s Congress (APC) aspiring flag bearer, Dr. Samura Kamara has in a tweet reacted to the recently enacted Gender Equality And Women Empowerment Act.

The Gender Equality And Women Empowerment Act were signed by President Bio on Thursday 19th January 2023 after going through different stages.

The Act gives many opportunities to women for wider participation in politics and the civil service sector.

He tweeted: “the new Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Act marks a major step forward in the fight for gender equality and women’s rights in Sierra Leone. It provides for greater integration of women and girls in nation-building and sets the stage for progressive access to politics.”

President Julius Maada Bio on Tuesday 19th January 2023 approved the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Act 2022.

The Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Act addresses gender imbalances by setting a 30% minimum quota for women in public office and advances equal pay & access to finance among other areas.
