The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone, Babatunde Ahonsi, bids farewell to President Bio and the people of Sierra Leone as he concludes his tenure in the country.

He expressed satisfaction with his time in the country, having served 38 months as the United Nations Resident Coordinator. He emphasized Sierra Leone’s promising development prospects, citing significant investments in education, agriculture, and the country’s commitment to maintaining peace.

“This afternoon, I had the good fortune of bidding farewell to President Bio after serving 38 months as UN RC in Sierra Leone. I told H.E that I see Sierra Leone’s development as bright given the critical investments being made in education, agricultural transformation, and peace sustenance” he mentioned.

He added that, he was also part of the inauguration of the independent cross party committee on electoral system and management bodies’ review that took place in the nation’s capital, Freetown on the 21st November 2023.

“I commended the APC for their return to governance and president bio for committing to electoral reform to address issues that emerged from the June 2023 elections,” he stated.
