Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Alhaji Musa Timothy Kabba, arrived in Geneva over the weekend, leading a high-level delegation to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions. Accompanying him was H.E. Dr. Michael Imran Kanu, Sierra Leone’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Upon arrival, the Sierra Leonean delegation was warmly welcomed by H.E. Lansana Gberie, the country’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN and WTO in Geneva, alongside Deputy Permanent Representative H.E. Samuel U.B. Saffa.

The event, hosted by the Swiss Government, will feature a significant panel discussion on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon in Geneva (16:30 to 18:00 EST in New York). The panel, titled “75 Years of Geneva Conventions: A Renewed Commitment to Upholding International Humanitarian Law,” will be co-presented by H.E. Mr. Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, and Minister Kabba.

This gathering underscores the global commitment to international humanitarian law, with key figures from around the world reaffirming their dedication to the principles enshrined in the Geneva Conventions.
