The Government of Sierra Leone has announced that the sixth parliament session of the Second Republic of Sierra Leone will commence on Thursday 13th July 2023 at 10:00 am in the chamber of parliament.
This came about from a call through the President of Sierra Leone in pursuant to Subsection (1) of Section 86 of the Constitution of Sierra Leone (Act No. 6 of the 1991).
A press release was issued by the Clark of parliament as directed by the President of Sierra Leone. According to the release, all Members of Parliament Elect are hereby informed to attend the Sitting of Parliament on the said date.
It was also stated in the release that, “Pursuant to Section 83 of the Constitution of Sierra Leone (Act No. 6 of 1991) every Member of Parliament duly elected at the General Elections of 24 June 2023 shall, before taking his seat in Parliament, take and subscribe the Oath of Office for Members of Parliament as prescribed in the Third Schedule of the said Constitution on Thursday 13h July 2023.”
In the end of the release all Members of Parliament Elect are invited to attend the Induction Program scheduled in Parliament for Wednesday 12h July 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in Committee Room One, Parliament Building, Tower Hill, Freetown.
