In a recent press briefing, Information and Civic Education Minister Chernor Bah unveiled alarming figures regarding the recent attempted coup on November 26. Militants breached the heavily guarded Wilberforce barracks arms depot, making away with a substantial arsenal.

According to Minister Bah’s update, the stolen cache included a staggering 47 AK47s, out of which 29 have been recovered, leaving 18 AK47s still unaccounted for. Additionally, 7 rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) were among the pilfered weaponry, with 5 RPGs now back in government possession, leaving 2 still missing. Furthermore, the theft encompassed 100 empty magazines,which remain at large.

This revelation has sparked widespread concerns about the potential implications of the missing firearms and ammunition. Security forces have intensified their efforts to recover the remaining weapons and bring the perpetrators to justice
