The Government of Sierra Leone has informed the Public on the arrest of Abubakar Boxx Konteh in Guinea for his alleged role in the November 26 failed coup.
According to a Press Release from the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, a joint operation between the Guinean authorities and the Sierra Leone security apparatus successfully apprehended Mr Abubakar Boxx Konteh at the Guinea airport. Mr Konteh who had been in hiding in Guinea was attempting to flee to Senegal.
Mr Konteh is suspected of providing material support in the planning, execution and escape/hiding of the executors of the failed November 26, 2023 coup. He is also suspected of being involved in the trade of illegal substances including the deadly kush in Sierra Leone. He will be extradited to Sierra Leone for interrogations by the Sierra Leone Police.
Boxx is also the North-West Regional Organizing Secretary of the main opposition, All People’s Congress (APC) party.
The Government of Sierra Leone fourther expressed thanks and appreciation to the Guinean authorities for their continued cooperation to enhance security between the two sister countries.
The government encourage the public to continue to share any useful information to support the work of the Sierra Leone.
