The Sierra Leone High Commission in the United Kingdom, under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Morie Komba Manyeh, commemorated the country’s 64th Independence Anniversary with a two-day event focused on prayer, reflection, and national unity.
Guided by the theme “Deepening National Consciousness and Cohesion in a Troubled World,” the observance began on April 28 at Croydon Council Hall with prayers and the raising of the national flag.
The commemoration reached its spiritual highlight on April 29 at Westminster Abbey, where the Sierra Leonean flag was flown and prayers were offered for the nation, its leadership, and the British Royal Family.
His Excellency Dr. Manyeh delivered a scripture reading from 2 Timothy 4:1–11, emphasizing perseverance and faithful service.
The Westminster Abbey Choir enhanced the occasion with sacred hymns, reinforcing the message of hope and unity. The event underscored the enduring strength of national identity and the global resonance of Brand Sierra Leone.
