I don’t date fools nor arrogant men – My views about life, love and relationships are just so complex that not many men can put up with a woman like me but I-Tribe to some extend have .
E get ihn yone problem dem ooo as ihn put am na ihn song #SomebodyElse but I have never met an artistic intellectually talented man as HUMBLE as Itribe. His humility is a bit too much for me – I am the hello, hi, jovial person but I am not trying to be in anyone’s humble or good behaviour book – I’m always in my fuck you state and I like it there but I can smile, hello and hi at you when we meet – if we do.
(You don’t have to read this post – they are my views, opinions and recollections. If you do read it, remove you batoliner lens en be objective and if you are too irritated by it please go talk to your ancestors or go write na yu yone wall)
Let’s go back to Itribe. His love, admiration and respect for Kabaka is unmatched- mi nor kin put mot pa den business as e cough ar say na yu main man una try day. But the reason why I never get to talk about their relationship is because the man is married to someone I also love and respect.
Let’s call a spade a spade and say the truth where and when it’s necessary.
Kabaka is not, has never, will never do Itribe a favour. What they had is a MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL RELATIONSHIP. Let’s break it down:
– Itribe was part of KME a brand that contributed respect and some level of visibility to his career.
– Itribe equally contributed great music, wrote many songs for some KME artists including albums, and performed in many unpaid events.
– Itribe left KME because he found himself still paying for his videos and his music promotion and these were done for songs that carries KME slogan.
– his breaking point was when Kabaka said“you write your contract and bring it to me” – I was shocked , all these years this man was working without a contract but this says a lot about the real intent of that relationship.
I didn’t say it out loud until today but in my mind I said “this is nonsense” I didn’t feel any sign of respect for a talent but like I said Itribe’s love, respect and admiration for this man…me kin just support am en way e cam back disappointed ar support am bak (I am all for let’s people learn there lessons from their own experiences – I also know manipulative techniques used by people with power to make others feel worthless and subject them to stay beneath – some man kin sabi use dis bad).
– surprisingly and this says a lot about Itribe ihn character, they still talk, laugh, share music en support each other. This is how Itribe continued to be part of the ECOFEST event even after his journey with KME ended.
– they will agree on a rate and exchange contract but all the time Kabaka will breach his own contract by not paying full, not paying at all, or not paying on time like what happened on Saturday. The artist left UK 2 weeks earlier because he was coming for ECOFEST – he wasn’t paid till when he made a post on the day of the show announcing to his fans that he will not be performing, that was the time Kabaka called and asked him to send someone to meet him at the beach to collect the money. At 11pm he made a $400 deposit (come on that’s not the time for deposits with no apology or explanation)
-since another person went to collect the money, he had no instruction to leave it, e just collect am en go – even me, I wondered why didn’t Itribe just refuse the money? His justification is “my face has been on banners, flyers and besides, Kabaka owe me for the last show” – even if ihn face trong lek bod halfback, that was a honest justification. He made no mention of what was paid to any other artist, when, how because that’s not his business and I personally think people should stop telling Kabaka how to use his money or how to organise his show. Una go do una yon
-let’s talk about UK and recommendation nor recommendation – even me, I still get recommendation letters from my former en current employers and I give recommendations too for people who have worked with me and those still working with me. This is what you write when you have a professional relationship with someone, if Itribe has done Kabaka wrong, he will not come to him and if Kabaka has dirt on Itribe he won’t give him a positive recommendation.
-Itribe was officially invited by commonwealth to perform at the African Summit held in March this year in the UK – unfortunately his visa came late. Kabaka wrote a recommendation letter, bo watin na de big deal, you nor pay de man ihn visa fee, norto you influence mak den invite am (na ihn music), nor to you pay ihn air ticket fo go UK na people dem way want am fo show – why do we have to debate it?
-En yes Itribe miss, na way e get blessing na ihn make e nor day date broke uman – de man ihn dating history very impressive…mesef kin kolay, na sober uman dem e want.
– To crown it all what we have is a mutually beneficial relationship.
You see love, respect en admiration should be reciprocated.
If you read to dis point, you too kongosa.
