The Former Minister of Defence, Internal Affairs under the Ernest Bai Koroma led government, Retired Major, Alfred Palo Conteh, on Saturday 2nd July 2022 told members of the All Peoples Congress party that he wants to bring discipline within the party if given the opportunity.

He said this while officially declaring his intention to run for the flag bearer’ position of the APC at the party. headquarters, Old Railway Line.

According to Palo Conteh, everyone has the right to contest for any position within the APC based on the Party’s new Constitution, explaining that “It should not be because someone said he wants to contest for any position that someone should abuse his/her mother”, as everyone belongs to a particular camp and the APC is not a Party where they abuse the mothers of others.

“I want to bring discipline within the APC that is why I decided to declare for the position of the flag bearer” he maintained, adding that people must play by the rules as discipline is what they will take to State house and no country will develop without being disciplined

He gave the example of homes where parents use abusive languages, fight in front of the kids, and children don’t have time to study, which hardly improves them as everyone is on their own, but where there is order and respect and issues are being addressed inside the room without the knowledge of the children, such homes will always be at peace and development will thrive easily. “That is what I want to see in the APC” he said.

He maintained that his interest is to unite the APC as while serving as Minister for ten years under the leadership of former President Koroma he did not have issues with any othe Minister, due to the fact that he was focused on his and nothing else.

According to him after the Almighty be God to him is Ernest Bai Koroma, which is why he first went to pay homage to him in Makeni before coming out in public to declare.

“I want to move this country from where Ernest Bai Koroma left it in 2018, Whether you like it or not, Ernest Koroma worked very hard for the development of this country, despite the fact that he is not presently enjoying his retirement as planned due to consistent harassment and intimidations,” he said .

Palo maintained that his campaign slogan is “Disciplined Leadership to develop Sierra Leone”, explaining when the people are disciplined the country will develop rapidly without any issues. He gave the example of Rwanda which he said is far ahead when it comes to development as they just hosted the Commonwealth Heads of States and Government meeting despite their country’s Size, saying Sierra Leone can do that under his leadership
